GATORS TAKE BITE OUT OF RAZORBACKS

Tampa, Florida -

The young Arkansas Razorbacks made their first round SEC Tournament game with Florida close for about 30 minutes.  After that, it looked like they ran out of gas.  Florida was not shooting very well from the floor espeicially behind the three point line but maintained their lead at the half over the hogs from the free throw line where they were perfect.

This year comes to an end finally.  It was a year of up and downs.  Big non-conference wins against Texas and Oklahoma don't really mean much now.  If Arkansas could have won half of it's SEC games, there would be talk about those big non-conference wins, and if Arkansas would be in or out of the NCAA tournament.

The SEC decided to move the tournament to Tampa this year.  Was it a good move?  Only the conference office can answer that question.

I enjoyed my time here.  There is quite a bit to do.  If you are a fan of MLB, then head to one of the parks for a spring training baseball game.  If you are like me and pack your golf clubs no matter where you are going, there are several golf courses in the Tampa area to test your game.

Speaking of testing my game.  Yesterday I tested my game over the track at Westchase Golf Club just west of the Tampa International Airport.  This course was tight and had a lot of water hazards.  It played about 6,700 yards.

This morning after a bed time around 2am the alarm clock sounded early.  Another day on the course was on the schedule.  Today I decided to play TPC Tampa.  TPC Tampa will play host to the champions tour Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am where Tom Watson will be the two time defending champion.

My tee time was for 7:30 and I was not the only one ready to get on the course.  I played with a member who yesterday played with some Kentucky fans who said they walked off the plane and headed to the course instead of going to watch their Wildcats beat Ole Miss.  Today they were going to play Innisbrook where next weeks PGA Tour stop will be.

I had fun on the courses and if you are ever in the area I would suggest you play TPC Tampa or Westchase.

Since the Hogs are gone tomorrow I fly home back to Arkansas.  I will try and bring some of the 75+ degree weather I have experienced here in Tampa.  I actually hope the SEC will bring the tournament back to Florida very soon.
