Stan Lee Would be Good Fit for UALR Golf

Wyn Norwood the longtime Men's golf coach at UALR will retire at the end of the 2012 season.  Coach Norwood has led the Trojans for 18 seasons and won back to back Women's Sun Belt Conference Championships in 1998 and 1999.  His Men's team also won back to back Sun Belt Conference Championships in 2000 and 2001.

Wyn Norwood is known in the golfing world throughout the country.  He was inducted into the Arkansas State Golf Association Hall of Fame in 2001.  He was the Arkansas State Amateur Player of the Year in 1982 and 1985.  Norwood has served as President of the Arkansas State Golf Association, the Southern Golf Association and the Mid-South Golf Association, and for 13 years he served as a committee member with the United States Golf Association.

Where should UALR look to find its next Coach?

Heber Springs, Arkansas, is where.  Stanford "Stan" Lee would be a home run hire.  There isn't another person in Arkansas with the credentials that Stan Lee has.  He won the 2007 United States Senior Amateur, was the 2009, 2010, and 2011 Senior Amateur Player of the Year in Arkansas, and was the 2000 Amateur Player of the Year, inducted into the National Senior Amateur Golf Hall of Fame in 2011, inducted into the Arkansas State Golf Association Hall of Fame in 1999.  Stan was a Tour Pro from 1976 - 1980.

Stan Lee knows the game of golf.  He knows how to teach golf.  He knows how to motivate.  He was on the bag for the last 2 matches when his younger brother won the same United States Senior Amateur Championship this year that he won in '07.

When I found out that Coach Norwood was going to retire, I thought immediately of Stan Lee.

I hope UALR makes a great hire.  I believe Stan Lee would be a great Head Golf Coach.
