A championship game worth watching and a recap worth reading

Congrats to Luke Hancock of Louisville (MOP of Final 4) as well as his teammates and coach for coming up with a

HUGE performance and winning the national title over Michigan despite a 17 point explosion by some dude named Spike who is saying GOOOOOOOO Blue in this shot

and a 24 point performance by national player of the year Trey Burke.  We recapped the game and talked about some of the particulars here.

Hancock earned the MOP award, but for my money...Peyton Siva is the freaking man.

18 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals.  This dude keeps his team speeding, but never rushes.  Relentless is the best way to describe him.  Even if Melissa McCarthy's fake coach (seen last week on SNL) based on Mike Rice's tenure as a nutjob at Rutgers threw a toaster at him

I think he would just keep on coming and say...I PREFER PANCAKES...NOT TOAST!!!!

Speaking of tough guys...Ray Rogers came in to talk Golden Gloves.

The MATCHES and not FIGHTS are Thursday-Saturday at the North Little Rock Community Center.  Great family event as we talked about with Ray.

With Phil Elson in on Tuesday we spent some time talking baseball as you would expect and that included talking to new Arkansas Travelers manager Tim Bogar.

Tim spent several years in the majors before turning to coaching.  He spent the last four years as a coach in Boston before coming here to Arkansas.  We REALLY enjoyed what I thought was an insightful and compelling conversation with a guy who's been there, done that.

Thanks also to Jim Harris who on Tuesday's at 11 is like death and taxes...something you can count on.  We talked title game, Hog baseball and also at length about

some golf tournament in Augusta which is for many people the real start to the golf season.  Jim likes Tiger this week...no big surprise there.

Jim will be joining me Thursday for Day at the Masters at the First Tee of Central Arkansas.  You can click here for a link to their website and more information.

Tomorrow we will be at Oaklawn for the Arkansas Derby draw and the start of the Racing Festival of the South which includes the $400,000 Fantasy Stakes.  Thank you so much for listening to us in The Zone.   Tune in every day from 10a-1p.
