Let the SEC Media Days Circus Begin
7/16/2013 10:04 AM
Sitting on Radio Row this morning in Hoover, Alabama, at the Hyatt Regency - Wynfrey Hotel, you don't have to look at a calendar to know what month it is. Tables were set in place with analog, ISDN, and Ethernet lines distributed to each and every one. How many tables you might ask? 38 to be exact. On the schedule today are the University of Florida, University of Missouri, University of Mississippi, and University of South Carolina. The other 10 schools will be scattered over the next two days. Each Head Coach will bring 3 players to Hoover and they have a schedule that includes 14 different stops to be bombarded with questions from National, Regional, State, and Local media types.
This event continues to grow and grow. I remember David Pollack broadcasting from Radio Row about 4 years ago and now he is part of ESPN's College Gameday Saturday broadcast and Thursday night College Football color analyst. This year it has been reported that over 1,200 credentials have been issued for SEC Media Days. And if the event could not get any more hype, ESPN's College Football Live has their set on the 2nd floor right outside the ballroom broadcasting live for the next 3 days.
It is time to buckle your seatbelt, because the unofficial end to summer is here and the unofficial start to the College Football Season is now.
