Friday In Bryant
11/18/2011 2:17 PM
The Show With No Name was LIVE in Bryant, Arkansas this morning. We broadcast from the new Edward's Food Giant on Reynolds Road. Just a 5 minute drive from home. And that's if I get stopped at a light. They are known as 'The Meat People' in the grocery business. Now don't expect to get jeans, socket sets, or DVD's. Edward's is a grocery store. Kind of a throw back to the days when your stuff was bagged by a clerk using paper sacks. Yep, that's exactly what they do. And the fella will take your groceries out to your car. Just as I did as a young lad in Hot Springs. Of course that's back when you only had 3 channels on the TV and that may have been a Black & White set. No microwave for popcorn. It was Jiffy Pop Popcorn or you burned in a skillet! But, I digress. We had a blast at the store. I lost to Sedrick in a bagging contest. I may have lost not having all my stuff bagged the fastest but, what I did sack up was in a nice uniformed paper bag with bread and eggs on top that would have made the old blue haired lady of my day proud enough to tip me a nickel. A FREAKIN' NICKEL! Do I sound bitter? OK, lets move on. We played a round of Price Is Right, Tommy Smith style! Last week The Outlaw brought back an old favorite, Mr. Food. What better place to play a round of Mr. Food than at Edward's Food Giant? Sure, maybe in Hawaii but we were in Bryant. It would have to do.
You know there is a little shindigshig The Buzz is putting on tomorrow at War Memorial don't you? Wrote a little song about. Wanna hear it? Here it go! Turns out while we're there for our tailgate party the University of Arkansas is going to play a football game up inside that there stadium. Timing! Neat how things like that work out. Atta boy Lindy!
I'm confident that I'll go 6-0 in my picks this week. That being said, chances are good I go 0-6. It's just the magic touch and the jinks factor I walk around with at times. Our guest celebrity picker today was, Aaron Peters of KARK-TV fame.
That's gonna just about do it. Come on out to the tailgate tomorrow. It's free. All you need is a free ticket to get in and you can get those at any First Security Bank in Central Arkansas.
