Dewey Defeats Truman.....Again?

3/22/2012 1:03 PM

"Dewey Defeats Truman" was an inaccurate headline on the front page of the Chicago Tribune the day after President Harry Truman defeated challenger Thomas Dewey in the 1948 election. The headline became notorious when Truman was photographed holding a copy of the paper. The Chicago Tribune was founded in 1847 and remains in operation still to this day. They survived the 'jumped the gun' article. I hope that The Buzz Blog written yesterday survives the onslaught of hate and name calling this editor....er...uh....blog writer guy has received since the infamous Mitchell Defeats Hunt misprint!

Yesterday, on The Show With No Name blog, I wrote that Meredith Mitchell defeated Beth Hunt in David Bazzel's Local Babe Bracket. I was wrong! Was I not paying attention? Did I try to rig the bracket. What do I have against Ch. 7 and Beth Hunt that I would tease her? What do I have against Meredith that I would play such a horrible joke? Those plus a few more, using sailor salty language, crossed my desk yesterday. I assure you I would never tease nor play such a mean joke to either of the participants in that particular match-up. A mistake was made. No one is to blame but me, Roger Scott. And for that I have been suspended from talking about the Babe Bracket except on the air. I am allowed to post results here as long as they're accurate. I also must forfeit any additional monies that were to be made by me from the Tommy Smith Babe Bracket during the month of March. I gladly except those terms. I hope we can put this matter behind us and look forward to the future with the Buzz blog. Once again, I am truly sorry for any embarrassment and discomfort that I may have caused Meredith and Beth.

The show must go on and The Show With No Name did just that this morning. Today we had Johnny White in studio speaking about the Grand Re-Opening of Greystone Golf Course in Cabot. He was accompanied in the door by Rex Nelson. Rex was invited in for two reasons. One was to speak about what may be the oldest bar b q joint in the state. The other is because he is a great guest to have no matter what the subject.

Melinda Mayo and Alyson Cortney called in today after their bracket games. Did they win? Yes they did. No apology will have to be sent tomorrow. I'm 100% certain of that.

With all the talk about Tebow, Tiger, N.O. Saints, and the NCAA tournament, we found some time to play a couple games of Beat the Baz and Who Are You. The Outlaw even threw in a segment of Chances Are.

Tomorrow we are LIVE in Sheridan, Arkansas. It's the beginning of the Gravely Mower Tour 2012. Get your shirts while they last.

Talk atcha Friday.
