The Show With No Name

Cut Down The Nets!

4/3/2012 12:46 PM

The Show With No Name crowned the 2012 Babe Bracket winners this morning. Some were not pleased with the outcome for various reasons. There were the folks that thought the fix was in from the get go based on the participants. Still others didn't like the fact that only votes taken over the phone were to be counted. The latter issue is simple. The LIVE Fan Feedback can be easily manipulated. People regularly use bogus names to spew the hate that is most oft times unwarranted. Also, one user can send as many messages as they want and use a different name or title each time. To keep the integrity of the Babe Bracket, only calls could be acceptable votes. The former is just as elementary really. All of the names in the National tournament were submitted to the commissioner, Roger D. Scott. And I might add that his two favorites did not make it past the second round. If anything he should be investigated for not being smart enough to see his teams get further. I don't know if you think Commissioner Scott did the right thing. If I may borrow from Lt. Col. Frank Slade.....But I can tell you this, he won’t sell anybody out to buy his future. And that my friends is called integrity, that’s called courage. Now that’s the stuff leaders should be made of.

Mark Miller of Fletcher Dodge and Ferneau Restaurant, along with Chef Donnie Ferneau  of same restaurant, visited with us to vote and inform us of the new lunch hours Ferneau is offering.

I guess I am obligated to mention that A.B. Meadors called in from New Orleans with his assessment of last nights NCAA National Championship. We are, after all. a sports station.

OK. Back to the serious stuff. The Babe Bracket came down to the wire once again this year. Well, the Local Bracket did anyway. Beth Hunt and Melinda Mayo fought it out like the players we have come to know over the past several tournaments.    In the national race, it was a see saw battle.  Jennifer Aniston took and early lead. Then, playing more not to lose instead of finishing,  Gabrielle Union took over and led until the last hour of the game. And as quick as she started the game, Aniston went on a 7-0 run and never looked back. We on the committee, don't believe Union will be a one and done Babe. With the Tyler Perry franchise spitting out movies at a rate of 2 and 3 a year, Gabby, as she has come to be known, could be a multiple champion for years to come. Congratulations to all of the lovely ladies that made it another fantastic Tommy Smith Babe Bracket!!

Tomorrow, Steve 'Wild Man' Wilson will talk Turkey Season. Matt 'Big Cat' Couch joins us in the 8:00 hour. That's not all. There may actually be hair catching on fire in the studio. We have a Bishop showing up in in house. What David Bazzel asks him should not be missed! Hide ya wife! Hide ya kids!

Talk atcha Wednesday.
