The Show With No Name

4/10/2012 12:07 PM

The Show With No Name welcomed in the studio the top two guys with the Arkansas State Red Wolves football team. With all due respect to the rest of the coaching staff and players, we had Coach Gus Malzahn  and  Ryan Aplin. Now, those are my words and not that of Gus or Ryan. I can call them by their first name 'cause we are now close personal friends. Again, those are my words and not the guys. They wouldn't be so bold as to come off arrogant. Coach Malzahn appears to be a very humble, God fearing man. I only say that because, he speaks about his faith whenever he mentions his path to becoming a college head coach and the blessings that he has been given. David made the comment this morning that he has never heard anything at anytime where Coach Malzahn has said a negative word about any of the situations that he, Malzahn, has been associated. Namely, his time as a coach at the U of A during the Houston Nutt era. Coach would not even talk about any of that while we were off the air. Oh, and you know if he had a petty bone in his body he could talk!

Ryan comes off the same way. He has established records not only as the ASU QB but, in the Sun Belt Conference. Aplin is very pleased with who his coach is for his senior season and should pad his stats next season. That's my observation anyway.

If you were never a fan of the ASU Red Wolves before, now is a great time to start keeping an eye on them. Actually, last year was. After the unbelievable season that Hugh Freeze had and now with an Arkansas boy that is thought to be one of the top offensive play callers in college football and that is proud to be home, it's an exciting time in Jonesboro and the entire state of Arkansas really. HOWL YES!

'Wild Man' and 'Big Cat' in the studio tomorrow.
