The Show With No Name

Henderson State......Of Mind

8/29/2012 1:37 PM

The Show With No Name was on the road this morning. Two of the program guys actually came down last night and had dinner at The Cracker Barrel, then got and early jump on the room at the Holiday Inn Express. David came down later in the evening and missed out on the hamburger steak. Many thanks to Marnie Walker Sharp for gettin' the hook-up at the hotel. If'n ya ever catch yourself in Arkadelphia for the night stop by the Holiday Inn Express and ask for Bertie. Tell her we sent ya. If you do tell her we sent ya, she may have a Cracker Barrel coupon for you. Just sayin'.

Everyone needs to just Calm Down! Hurricane Issac has given Henderson State University the opportunity to play in one of the first football games of the 2012 season. We had the pleasure of speaking with the youngest AD in the country, Kale Gober.  Kale is on his 2nd year on campus as the head of the athletic department. He is only 26. I have underwear older than that. I'm not kiddin'. I wore them today. But seriously..........I'm serious.

Glendell Jones Jr. is Henderson State University’s 17th president. When the Artist Formerly Known as The Outlaw, Tommy Smith, gets the opportunity to get to know the off the clock person, he does what he does better than any other. He asks the tuff questions.

Kale 'younger than the oldest car in my driveway' Gober made sure we didn't have a need for guest this morning. This year will be a celebration of alumni like never before at HSU. He hooked us up with  Gus Malzhan and Ken Duke to name just a few.

Of course with the season gettin' underway tonight, we spoke with a couple of the players and the head coach, Scott Maxfield.  I even offered the QB and Coach Maxfield a new way to consider playing the QB position. David Bazzel told them they should listen to me. David also told the Jr linebacker on the Reddies team to tackle me. WTC!!

Tomorrow, in preparation of Hurricane Issac coming, we broadcast from the Antique Brick Outdoors Studios on Cottondale Lane. Mark May will call us and Matt Jones will be in studio. Yea that's right!

Remember you don't have to buy a new car to be treated like you did. Fletcher Dodge has a wide selection of cars to fit every budget. Just for stopping by and talking with the Fletcher guys you get dinner for two at Benihana Japanese Steakhouse.
