In The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, the character Arthur Dent says "This must be Thursday. I never could get the hang of Thursdays". A few minutes later the planet Earth is destroyed. Thor, for whom the day was named, also appears later in the Hitchhiker's series and in other Adams books. In The long Dark Tea-time of the Soul, one of the characters says to Thor: "I'm not used to spending the evening with someone who's got a whole day named after them".
Big show today. That of course is all relative.
We started out the show with Tommy playing The O'Jays 'Backstabbers'. It seems Tommy was giving the thumbs up to his face about his movie but, behind closed doors, The Jerry Van Dyke film was panned. Well, we got it all straightened out. Danny-Joe was just giving his opinion on the movie as a whole. He thought Tommy's' role was very funny. Who among us has not liked parts of a movie but not the whole. Who among us is stupid enough to say something about someone to another, thinking the subject of our gossip would not find out? Right. Tommy wasn't really ticked off. I think he forgot to play Brenda Lees' 'I'm Sorry'.........Nah.
The music of the day. It is the birthday of Barry Alan Pincus. No you're not going to have to Google or Bing it. It's Barry Manilow! Yea! I have a Barry Manilow album. For you youngsters, that's a big record. "Mandy", "I Write the Songs", "Weekend in new England", "Can't Smile Without You", and "Copacabana." All great in their own right. But the song I used a hairbrush microphone and the imagined audience of millions? "The Theme to American Bandstand" Oh yea baby. Also for you youngsters. Saturday mornings in the 1970s consisted of a couple of bowls of cereal and the Greatest Cartoons Ever! Followed by Dick Clark and American Bandstand. Take that Gen-Xers. Happy Birthday little Barry Pincus.
On the Phone we spoke with John from Bullseye Guns and Ammo. He got some great deals for that father on your list that doesn't have everything and now wants a gun. Can you say Marvin Gaye? But seriously, he has the weapon you need for your protection. In this day and time it is almost a must. They also provide the training you require to get a concealed license.(501) 224-4867
Pulaski Academy Head Coach Kevin Kelley who has been featured on ESPN and in Life magazine because he is a coach that never punts,(he did punt twice last year) Is having some football this weekend. Baptist Health 7 on 7 Shoot Out of the South. Call (501) 623-1923.
The legendary high school coach Charles Ripley was in studio. I had never met the man that coached NBA Champion Derek Fisher or Super Bowl winner Keith Jackson. But, if you ask him who the best athlete he ever coached was he won't say. Too many to mention? Doesn't want to hurt feelings more likely. The name that stuck out was not the earlier mentioned Fisher or Jackson. The 'Red Baron' Jackie Ridgles. Altheimer, Arkansas' favorite son. Jackie played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the San Diego Rockets in 1970-1972 seasons. Anyhow, Rip, as hes know to the masses, is at Arkansas Baptist College and is having a Thank You lunch tomorrow beginning at 11:30 for anyone and everyone. It all takes place at the College gym at 1621 MLK.

Tomorrow is well, T.G.I.F. I think we have steak coming up. We plan on discussing the best fathers in TV and movies at some point. And listening to some songs about dad's.
