The Zone

10/6/2011 7:31 PM

One of the busiest and most exciting days in the Zone today.  Not because it was an Acri-Free Zone, which was nice though, sorry JA just kidding.  Former Razorbacks Clint Stoerner and Matt Harris were in for the entire show.  2 class acts that represent the U of A every day of their life in a positive light, and they know how to talk football, which is really the only reason I invited them up to the studio.

Turn that corner Clint!  Wait...just slide bro

 Get em pumped son!

Thanks to Auburn play by play man Rod Bramblett for making his triumphant return into The Zone.  As always, he was fantastic.  He touched on Auburn up to this point and some of their struggles as well as how Kiehl Frazier might be used this weekend and for the rest of the season and Michael Dyer's impact.  He also gave a progress report on the Toomer's Corner trees and why he's not surprised by Cam Newton's success.

We also talked with former Razorback QB Jared McBride, Head Football Coach at Lakeside.  Jared has intimate knowledge of Gus Malzhan's offense and approach.  Worth a listen if you've wondered what seperates Malzahn's offensive attack.

One of the highlights of The Zone's history happened today.  Former Cowboy and current ESPN NFL analyst Darren Woodson called in.  He's obviously knowledgable but he's very entertaining and spent more time with us than he probably had, so thanks to him and how many times he made us laugh.  A few highlights: Explained in detail Romo's struggles and how far he thinks the Cowboys can go with him as QB, he talked Razorback Football and my favorite what he got Matt harris for his tenth birthday.  Matt's father, Cliff, is a Cowboys Hall of Honor inductee at safety.  Have yourself a few laughs even at Stoerner's expense form the old Cowboys days.

Darren Woodson

And if that wasn't enough, Alonzo Highsmith, former NFL running back and father of the Razorback's linebacker called into The Zone.  He's currently a scout for the Green Bay Packers.  he talked DJ Williams and what makes him so special, he talked about who he's scouting from the Razorbacks team and he discussed his pro boxxing career and why boxing is suffering.  Can't think of a better lineup than we had today.

Of course thanks to my man Spencer Watson from Sync Weekly giving us the latest news and events from around town.

Special thanks to Clint Stoermer, who set up the Woodson and Highsmith interview, and Matt Harris.  Now let's go bust up the Auburn Tigers!
