Thank you to Ed David of the Faded Rose (and a New Orelans native) for coming in today and imparting some wisdom on those of us who adore New Orleans and are headed down for the Sugar Bowl.
His suggestions coming up...
also we turned Pat and Baz loose on the Crescent City today for NYE.  I can guarantee you some good stories from their adventures on Monday's show.  Pat called in and joined me and the Pigskin Preacher for some picks.  The three of us are all within one pick of each other with about a dozen games to go.  Joe is...not.
Here are some of Ed's reccommendations for the Big Easy:
Best Cajun food in New Orleans, Cochon at 930 Tchoupitoulas St.
Very, very good Creole food, Clancy's at 6100 Annunciaton St in the Irish Channel.
Johnny's Po-Boys in the French Quarter
La Petite Grocery, 4238 Magazine St. (French)
Best places for drinks the Courtyard Bar and the Front bar at Pat O'Briens(not the Piano Bar) and Port au Call on Esplanade Ave.
Ed says you need to get a local drink called a Sazerac which is rye whiskey and bitters.  I tried his version this week...yummmmmy!
And finally, the definitive website on New Orleans, lists all 1000+ restaurants with comments by Tom Fitzmorris, the most knowledgeable food writer in New Orleans and maybe anywhere.
He also suggests:
For Oysters-
Acme Oysters (touristy yes, but loved by locals)
For upscale-
Commander's Palace
Pascal's Manale (which apparently has excellent BBQ Shrimp)
For baked goods-
Parkway Bakery
Cafe du Monde (Pigskin says go to takeout window for short lines)
Ed and the Pigskin swear by Central Grocery for muffaletta also.
I am making it a point to see the cemeteries which are apparently quite a sight and also to revisit the DDay Museum.  They have expanded the displays since I was there several years ago.  It is a must see!

OH-and the game...stay tuned to the Buzz for ALL THINGS SUGAR BOWL!  See you at Margaritaville Sunday night for our party, Bobby Petrino Live (7-8p) sand our special the Battle for the Big Easy (8p-9p).
Go Hogs!
