The Zone

LIVE FROM THE SEC TOURNEY FOR ROUND 1

3/10/2011 1:14 PM

The excitement is in the air in Atlanta, there's a lot of teams still fighting to work their way into the NCAA tourney.  I'm perched high above the action in the press box in the Georgia Dome watching the action and Justin and Freaky Joe are back in the new and improved Fureigh Electric Studio.

We had former Vandy shooter and now SEC tv broadcaster Barry Booker on the show.  He talked about the tourney and Arkansas vs Tennessee game but more importantly what it would take for The Zone to secure a $3 million loan.  He's a banker in his spare time.

Elvis isn't here in Atlanta, though.  And, no, this isn't his broadcast partner.

Thanks to Spencer from Sync Weekly for sitting in the studio and giving everyone the haps on this weekend.  He's in every Thursday to talk entertainment and the latest in Sync magazine.

Thanks to Trey Schaap, who's joining us live from Summitt Arena in Hot Springs for the high school state championships, for getting one of the nation's top bball recruits from Sylvan Hills, Archie Goodwin, on The Zone.  Archie is well spoken and took every question we had.  I asked how many college recruiting letters he gets every day and his response was 30-40.  Sometimes too many to read!  He seems to be grounded and well spoken.

Also, former Arkansas football great and current Cleveland Brown, Peyton Hillis called us and talked about the upcoming football CBA and his local central Arkansas appearance.

Great big thanks to Jeff "Money" Taylor for calling in and dropping that racehorse knowledge.  Justin will be live from Oaklawn tomorrow and be talking with Money Taylor, David Longinotti, Terri Wallace and the rest of the Oaklawn family.

I will still be out here in HotLanta for the remainder of the tourney.  I have tons to do today.  I'm lining up Mark Gottfried, Jimmie Dykes and a few former Kentucky Wildcats.

Don't forget you can also catch all high school championship action on the Buzz....
