FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 7 University of Arkansas men’s golf team wraps up its fall season this weekend at the Cabo Collegiate in Baja California, Mexico, Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 27-29.

The event is in its second year and the Razorbacks are the defending champions, winning the competition by two strokes a year ago.  Four of Arkansas’ five scores from the 2010 event return to defend the Razorbacks’ title including junior Austin Cook, junior Josh Eure, senior Ethan Tracy and sophomore Sebastian Cappelen.

“Going to an event like the Cabo Collegiate is a great reward for our players,” Arkansas head coach Brad McMakin said.  “The course is beautiful and the weather should be just as nice for the next three days.  That said, we came here to get a job done and that is to defend our title from last year.  I feel that we have a great opportunity to do that and it would allow us to go into the winter on a high.”

The 12-team Cabo Collegiate field includes the No. 7 Razorbacks, No. 43 St. Mary’s, No. 45 Tennessee, No. 56 Lamar, San Francisco, Arkansas-Little Rock, Loyola Marymount, Southeastern Louisiana, UC Irvine, Gonzaga, Santa Clara and Cincinnati.  Arkansas has had some success against their competitors this year, posting a 4-0 record with wins over Lamar, Santa Clara, Southeastern Louisiana and UC Irvine.

This season, Arkansas has been led in stroke average by Eure at 72 strokes per round.  In three tournaments, he has two top 10 finishes including a second-place finish at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational.  Tracy has also been a leader for the Razorbacks with three top five finishes in four tournaments.  Tracy posted his second sub-par tournament score at the Windon Memorial Classic last week to finish third.

The Cabo Collegiate will be contested at Club Compestre Golf Course, a par 71, 6,966 yard venue. The event calls for 54 holes beginning at 8:30 a.m. local time with a shotgun start.
