FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The schedule for the 2012 Houston College Classic has been announced. The event runs from March 2-4 at Minute Maid Park, the home of the Houston Astros.
The Razorbacks open the tournament on Friday, March 2, at 12 p.m. by playing Big 12 foe Texas Tech. UA’s second game in the event comes on March 3 against Houston. First pitch against the Cougars is set for 12 p.m. Arkansas plays its final game on March 4 against former Southwest Conference rival Texas. The game with the Longhorns begins at 11 a.m.
Fellow Southeastern Conference team Tennessee and Rice will also participate in this year’s event, but Arkansas will not play them.
Considered one of the top early season events in college baseball, the Houston College Classic will again include a strong field. Arkansas will be making its first appearance in the tournament. Three of the six teams in the field advanced to the 2011 NCAA Tournament, with Texas reaching the College World Series.
