Love on Lombardi Award Watch List

HOUSTON, Texas – University of Arkansas football offensive lineman DeMarcus Love has been named to the 2010 Rotary Lombardi Award watch list, it was announced by the Rotary Lombardi Award Committee. The Lombardi Award goes annually to the college football lineman, on either offense or defense, who, in addition to outstanding performance and ability, best exemplifies the discipline of Vince Lombardi.
Love enters the 2010 Arkansas football season having made 24 starts on the offensive line in his UA career. The Lancaster, Texas, native started every contest in the 2009 season where he blocked for an offensive unit that led the Southeastern Conference in scoring (36.0) and passing offense (295.5).
Lombardi, the legendary coach of the Green Bay Packers and the award’s namesake, was first known for being the smallest but toughest member of the renowned "Seven Blocks of Granite" of Fordham University (1934-37).
The award’s watch list will be periodically updated and revised through the conclusion of the voting to determine the 12 semifinalists for 2010. The 41st Rotary Lombardi Award ceremonies will be held December 7- 8, 2010, at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.
