FORT WORTH, Texas - The 2010 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award® (The O'Brien) Marquee Match-up for week seven highlights a Southeastern Conference (SEC) showdown between O'Brien Watch List candidate Ryan Mallett and Cam Newton.
Throughout the season, The O'Brien will highlight the best weekly quarterback match-up as the race for the oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award continues. Quarterbacks from all 120 NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools are eligible for the award until the field is narrowed to 16 semifinalists on Monday, Oct. 25.
Marquee Match-up: No. 12 Arkansas at No. 7 Auburn
Saturday, October 16 at 2:30 p.m. (CT) on CBS
Two of the most potent offenses in the nation will go head-to-head Saturday afternoon when Ryan Mallett leads the Arkansas Razorbacks (4-1, 1-1 SEC) into Jordan-Hare Stadium to take on Cam Newton and the Auburn Tigers (6-0, 3-0 SEC).
Both quarterbacks have proved to be skilled signal-callers through the first six weeks of the season. Dual-threat quarterback Newton has been a defense's worst nightmare, leading the SEC in both rushing (112 yards per game) and passing efficiency (180.73). Mallett on the other hand, continues to show off his golden arm each week. He leads the SEC and ranks second in the NCAA with 349.60 passing yards per game.
