Damon C. Poole, II, (aka The Wookiee), was born in Conway on July 3, 1970 and raised in the north Faulkner County town of Guy. He is a Graduate of Guy-Perkins High School, and UCA with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications with a Minor in Geography. He began his career in radio as a result of an interest in meteorology. He signed up for airshifts at KUCA-FM and eventually became an on-air meteorologist there. His final semester at UCA brought an internship in the weather department at KARK-TV, and a part-time producer's job here at the Buzz. He has been here ever since, and has at one time or another produced, or substitute produced for just about every show on 1037 The Buzz. Currently he serves behind the scenes of weekend and evening sports shows, as they line up with his shifts. He also is a backup producer for other Buzz Shows as needed.
Damon got his on-air nickname “The Wookiee”, primarily because of his 6’8” height, and also because the names “Sasquatch” and “Bigfoot” just didn’t have the same ring or class as that of the Star
Wars character Chewbacca. When he’s not here at work, Damon pursues his interest in meteorology as a storm spotter for the National Weather Service. He is also a member of the National Weather Association, and, The Arkansas Chapter of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
